The Legend of Dragoon was one of those games. These JRPGs would rarely exceed the popularity of the PlayStation’s bigger titles, but a few games like Final Fantasy 7 would, and that would spark more and more interest in the genre as a whole, which would of course lead to more sales and more games. One of the biggest niches the system was able to carve out for itself was a healthy selection of Japanese-style role playing games. The PS1 had even more than that going on though. It had timeless platforming mascots with Crash and Spyro, tons of shooters, and it even served as the incubator for the survival horror genre as we know it today. The PlayStation 1 was known for many things.
